Gastrointestinal stromal tumors – this type of cancer rarely take place – this cancer forms in the cell found in the lining of the stomach called interstitial cells of Cajal. This cell looks similar to the muscle or nerve cell. Not all of these tumors are cancerous (benign) but some are cancerous.

Carcinoid tumors – this type of cancer commence in the hormone-producing cell of the stomach. Mostly this type of tumors does not spread to the other part of the organ.

Stages of Stomach Cancer

Determining the stage of stomach cancer is a very crucial part in order for evaluating treatment option. Stage 0 – this is an early stage of the stomach also known as carcinoma in situ because in this stage cancer does not spread to the nearby tissue. Stage I – stage one of the stomach cancers has been divided into two categories. Stage II – this stage is also divided into two categories. Stage III (stage 3 stomach cancer): This stage of stomach cancer is divided into three categories. Stage IV – this is the most advanced stage where cancer has spread to many other parts of the body.
